This medal commemorates the coronation of Karl XII, which took place in the great cathedral of Stockholm (Storkyrkan) on 14 December 1697. The imagery of the phoenix symbolizes renewal, continuity, and divine favor upon the young monarch. Likely engraved by Carl Gustaf Hartman, this piece forms part of the Karlsteen school’s early production.
