Issued in the earliest months of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna’s reign, the coin features an unusual half-length portrait showing the Empress with shoulders turned slightly forward, visible hands, and elaborate court dress — a striking departure from the conventional profile busts used on Russian coins of the period.
