Medaliers: Colucci and Publio Morbiducci.

Obv.: Four kneeling men support a rectangular block bearing a commemorative inscription.

CINQUANTENARIO / DELLA / PROCLAMAZIONE / DEL / REGNO D’ITALIA

(Fiftieth anniversary of the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy).

Rev.: Farmer ploughing right; below, shield inscribed ROMA pierced by a sword.

The medal commemorates the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy on 17 March 1861. Its imagery connects the national jubilee with Rome and the agricultural symbolism of the Italian land, while the large cast format and original octagonal case underline the official and commemorative character of the issue.
