Russia (Germany, Königsberg mint) 6 Groschen 1761 - Elizabeth (1741-1762)

2.54g. VF/VF-.

"MONETA REGNI PRUSS" type.

Bitkin 743 (similar).

During the reign of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna (1741–1762), coinage in Königsberg was carried out during the Seven Years’ War, when Russian forces occupied Prussia (1758–1762). In 1759, a mint was established in Königsberg, where silver coins—thalers and half-thalers with the portrait of the Empress and corresponding Russian legends—were struck following Russian models. These coins circulated in the occupied territories, serving both as political propaganda (asserting Elizabeth’s authority) and as a practical means of securing monetary circulation. After Elizabeth’s death and Russia’s withdrawal from the war in 1762, coinage ceased.
