Obv.: View of Mount Elbrus with oil derricks and a group of advancing tanks at the base; soldiers with rifles ride atop the lead tank. Above the peaks, silhouettes of aircraft in flight. The medal is encircled by a decorative border featuring grape clusters and floral motifs. At the top of the border is a five-pointed star; at the bottom, a ribbon inscribed СССР with a hammer and sickle between the letters.
