(Son of Sigismund III by Anna of Austria; elected Grand Duke of Muscovy in 1610 during his father’s lifetime; after his father’s death he succeeded to the title of King of Sweden; victoriously lifted the siege of Smolensk; after many lost hopes of kingdoms he died without heirs in 1648 at the age of 53, after 16 years of reign, on May 20).

Władysław IV Vasa (Władysław IV Waza) (1595-1648) was King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania, ruling territories corresponding to modern Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, and parts of Ukraine. His reign was marked by military campaigns against Muscovy and the Ottoman Empire, as well as attempts to strengthen royal authority and pursue ambitious foreign policies, including claims to the Swedish throne.
