(Fourth son of Casimir; under his auspices the laws were collected by Chancellor Łaski and printed; died in Vilnius in 1506 at the age of 45, after a reign of 5 years, on August 19). 

Alexander Jagiellon (Aleksander Jagiellończyk) - (1461-1506) was Grand Duke of Lithuania from 1492 and King of Poland from 1501, ruling over a state that included the territories of modern Lithuania, Poland, Belarus, and parts of Ukraine. His reign was marked by attempts to strengthen royal authority while navigating the growing political influence of the nobility. One of the most significant achievements associated with his rule was the codification and publication of laws under Chancellor Jan Łaski, an important step in the legal development of the Polish-Lithuanian state. His period of rule also coincided with ongoing conflicts with the Grand Duchy of Moscow and internal challenges within the union. He died in Vilnius, the historic capital of Lithuania, which remains the modern capital of Lithuania today.
