Rev.: Peter I in the guise of an antique warrior stands right against the background of the fortress plan, leaning on a shield inscribed PORTIS | HOSTI = | LIBVS | EF = | FRAC | TIS; he receives a crown from the kneeling personification of the city of Derpt.

The capture of Derpt (Tartu) on 14 July 1704 was a key success of Russian forces during the Great Northern War. After a siege, the Swedish garrison capitulated, allowing Russia to secure control over an important stronghold in Livonia. The fall of Derpt significantly weakened Swedish defensive positions in the region and contributed to Russia’s consolidation of power in the eastern Baltic.
