(To the Great, Orthodox, Happy, and Faithful Sovereign Peter I, for his wondrous name and deeds, Emperor and Father of the Russians, pacifier of the North after twenty years of triumphs, this medal is presented in native gold.).

The Peace of Nystad, signed on 30 August 1721, marked the end of the Great Northern War between Russia and Sweden. This treaty concluded two decades of conflict and secured Russia's access to the Baltic Sea, including the territories of Ingria, Livonia, Estonia, and part of Karelia. It also signified the decline of Swedish dominance and the emergence of the Russian Empire as a leading European power. In recognition of these achievements, the Senate proclaimed Peter I as Emperor of All Russia, formally marking the transition from Tsardom to Empire. This medal allegorically celebrates peace, depicting the northern war as a biblical flood and Peter as its pacifier.
