(The third-born son of Casimir; brother of Vladislaus, King of Hungary and Bohemia, and of Saint Casimir; victor over the Tatars; died in Toruń in 1501 at the age of 41, after 9 years of reign, on August 7). 

John I Albert (Jan I Olbracht) (1459-1501) was King of Poland, ruling territories corresponding to modern Poland. His reign was marked by military campaigns against the Ottoman Empire and conflicts in Moldavia (modern Romania and Moldova), including the unsuccessful expedition of 1497. Despite setbacks, his rule reflects the active foreign policy of the Jagiellonian dynasty in Central and Eastern Europe.
