This medal commemorates the death of Swedish Adjutant General Count Knut Leijonhufvud at the Battle of Narva on 20 November 1700, one of the first major engagements of the Great Northern War. Leijonhufvud, a close officer of King Charles XII, was killed in action while leading royal troops during the decisive Swedish victory over the Russian army. The medal, engraved by Arvid Karlsteen, exalts his courage and patriotic sacrifice.
