At the corner of 28 May Street in Baku (known between 1913 and 1917 as Romanovsky Prospect, No. 25) there stood in the early 20th century a workshop and factory for scales operated under the name Kaber Otto Heinrich (Otto Heinrich Kaber). The Estonian entrepreneur established his enterprise in a one-storey building owned by Dzhumshud Adamov; the façade of the structure still bears a monogram with the owner’s initials. 

The building was constructed in 1902 for commercial use and passed into the possession of Dzhumshud Adamov in 1912. It was subsequently adapted as a factory for the manufacture of scales and weighing equipment. Under the Kaber brand a wide range of scales was produced — from household to industrial types, as well as export models — with particular emphasis on accuracy and reliability. The equipment was made of high-quality cast iron and steel, and the factory also offered repair and modernization of existing devices. Each purchase was accompanied by a certificate of quality, which became the factory’s hallmark and ensured its strong reputation. 

It is likely that the present token was intended for circulation in Kaber’s shop in Narva, where the factory’s products were also distributed.
