5.43g. XF-/AU. An outstanding specimen featuring fine details and beautiful olive-green natural toning. Haljak 1586; SB 113. Extremely rare.
From December 1705 to January 1706, Riga endured a siege, leading to a severe cash shortage. To address this, General Governor Carl Gustav Frölich authorized the countershaping of Swedish one-mark and five-öre coins with a special Karl XII monogram, effectively doubling their value. However, due to the town's opposition, Carl XII of Sweden revoked this decree in January 1706.
