The medal refers to the contributions imposed by the Swedish army in the Electorate of Saxony in 1707 during the Great Northern War. After the Swedish advance into Saxony, the electorate was forced to provide payments and supplies to the Swedish forces. The scenes of Leipzig and of grain being carried into storage reflect the burden of military requisitions and the material support demanded from Saxon territory.
