10.55g. VF/VF+. Sestroretsk mint. Bitkin 546.
During 1757-1758, the Sestroretsk Mint in Russia re-struck Swedish coins into Russian denominations due to a shortage of raw materials for new coins. The Swedish coins, usually 1 öre and 2 öre, had to be adjusted in size and thickness to match the Russian standards. This practice was part of a broader monetary reform initiated by Empress Elizabeth to produce copper coins of a new design. These re-struck coins are now considered rare and are of significant interest to collectors, particularly those struck from 1 öre and 2 öre, as they carry distinct traces of their Swedish origins.
